This commemorative coin is a homage to the valuable work of the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare and its Centennial celebrations.
The design, “CENTURY OF THE CHILD”, is a collage of semi-abstract asymmetrical and circular relief shapes. On the obverse the artist
has depicted children and youth at various stages of their life. The reverse of the coin features a sleeping child in profile.
Established in 1920, the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare (MLL) has done significant work for the benefit of Finnish families with children throughout its first century. As a defender of children’s rights, the Mannerheim League has left an indelible mark in the history of the Finnish welfare state.
