Description
Ready to Hang 20 Meter Half Wave Dipole Antenna with BalunThe Frequency Devices Half Wave Center Fed Dipole antenna with Balun is tuned to 14.2 MHz (20 Meters). It uses #14 stranded hard-drawn copper wires to meet the requirements of the National Electrical Code and have the best radiation efficiency. Hard drawn wire is the best wire to use for antenna since it is much stronger than soft drawn and will stretch must less.
It can be installed as an inverted V or as a straight dipole. The antenna can handle 1500 watts PEP provided the SWR at the antenna is less than 2:1.
Our antennas are built using 18-8 stainless steel hardware, all internal nuts are self-locking, all screw holes are sealed with RTV sealant, and other holes are sealed with Coax-Seal™ to minimize water problems. Our center isolators have weep holes in the bottom to allow any moisture that might accumulate to drain out.
The wire ends are twisted, soldered, and have shrink tubing installed.
Why do you need a Balun with a half wave antenna?
The coax that you use to connect to the half wave dipole is an unbalanced line.
The half wave antenna is a balanced antenna meaning that for best results it should be driven with a balanced signal.
A Balun is used to convert the unbalance coax signal to the balanced signal that the half wave dipole wants.
Without a Balun the antenna radiation pattern can be distorted and RF can get on the outside of the coax and come back into your shack instead of radiating.
These antennas are made in our factory in Illinois and shipped directly to you through the US Post Office and has a money back guarantee for two years.
The antenna usually will arrive two to three days after shipping.
The 20 meter antenna is about 36 feet long.
